Development of the Picture Book “Aruna and Her Paradise” as a Tool for Teaching Moral Values Regarding Respect for Parents to Early Childhood Students at Daarul Wahdah

Self-control helps children understand the importance of respecting others, including their parents. However, self-control in children aged 5–6 years has not yet been fully internalized into the moral value of respecting parents. Based on this issue, this study is titled “The Development of the Religious Picture Book ‘Aruna and Her Paradise’ as a Medium for Teaching the Ethical Value of Respecting Parents to Early Childhood Students at Daarul Wahdah.” In line with the research title, the study aims to describe the development process of the picture book “Aruna and Her Paradise” and to assess the extent to which this book is suitable as a medium for teaching the moral values of respecting parents to early childhood students. This study employed a research and development method using the ADDIE model. Based on the research findings, the resulting product is a picture book that conveys moral values of respecting parents—specifically, love, politeness, and courteous language—and is supplemented with worksheets. The results indicate that the developed picture book meets the feasibility criteria, as validated by experts who rated it as “feasible” and “highly feasible.” The implementation results show that the media responded positively to the use of the picture book to teach moral values of respecting parents.
